Episode 110: The Proper Care & Feeding of a ‘New’ Mom

This episode isn't just about how to support a post-partum momma coming home with her first brand new baby...but our seasoned momma friends too...who need support too, even if they look like they have it all figured out! Maybe especially if they look like they have it all figured out...because none of us do. And ALLL of us could benefit from being cared for in special ways.

Episode 109: SHARE-ing Homeschool

Let’s face it, we LOVE Homeschooling, but it can be a lonely journey! Depending on your location and your tribe, you may wake up one day to realize that you've spent the last 3 years in your house and not one of your children owns a "real" pair of pants (except their church pair of course). If this is you…no shame!

Episode 108: Homeschooling…Real Talk from the Trenches

We've talked about our 'why's' and the benefits we've seen in our own families, so we thought it would only be appropriate to speak to the harder parts of homeschooling. So, if you're considering it, you don't feel blindsided, and if you're already doing it, you don't feel alone.

Because, like parenting, homeschooling isn't for the weak of heart, but just like parenting it will strengthen your heart along the way.

Episode 107: Every Moment is a Teachable Moment — Wisdom and Stories from Seasoned Homeschool Moms

If you've ever wanted to pick the brain of a homeschool mom who's been there and DONE that...boy do we have a podcast for you!

We gathered up some homeschool mommas with years and years of experience! And not JUST in homeschooling...but two were also previous teachers. All three of these beautiful mommas have six kids or more so the stories and advice you're going to hear will be seasoned, honest, and encouraging. They have graciously agreed to answer our questions and give their thoughts about traditional school, homeschool, and everything in between.

Episode 106: Never Say Never…How We Came to Homeschooling

Welcome back to the Deliberate Day Podcast...we're your hosts, Brittany & Tiffany and today is OUR why for homeschooling.

There are as many different reasons to homeschool as there are options for curriculum and your reasons will even change over time...because homeschooling is a journey WITH your kids and you are ALL growing through it.

We also want to add a caveat that we don't believe everyone should be homeschooled. We do feel strongly about it for our families (as you will be hearing), but we also recognize that homeschooling is a very personal decision based on your unique family and situation and we fully understand that it IS a privilege to homeschool.

Episode 105: Homeschooling? Start Here.

I would like to make a very bold statement...there are many reasons that you can't homeschool but you being unqualified...is NOT one of them. It is a lie and it's NOT. TRUE.

This is one of the most common things we hear that makes our hearts just ache. Momma, you've heard us say it before, but YOU are the best momma for your children, and that include their education.

We're shaking things up a bit today and we've asked a sweet momma on the podcast that is brand new to her own personal homeschooling journey.

We invited her to bring all her questions and inhibitions in hopes that it might speak to other mommas who are on the fence and are just looking for some more information or support.

Episode 99: From Summer to School Without Losing Your Cool

Summer is the time of year that everything goes off plan...even when you've taken time to plan well...you're still off routine and flying by the seat of your pants.

Asking yourself and your kids to go from that to perfectly planned days is madness...we need a transition period. Because it's a TRANSITION! And all life transitions need a bit more love in our opinion!

Whether you homeschool, public-school, private-school, or even no-school (I'm talking about our toddler moms). Summer shakes things up for everybody! It gets dark at different times, family and friends are visiting, the weather is changing, the activities ramp up...it really doesn't matter what stage of life you're in...life gets crazy in summer

SO. How do we begin to make those transitions in ways that set you AND your people up for success?

Episode 98: The Story of an Athiest, Baking, & Conversion…with Simone Florez

Welcome back to the Just a Mom series! Of course no mom is JUST a mom and in this series we're shinning a little light on mommas AND their stories. If we've learned anything in the past 14 years connecting mommas, it's that our seemingly ordinary and quiet stories connect and encourage fellow mommas more than we know. And after learning the real meaning behind the quote "Well-behaved women seldom make history" we knew we needed to get more mommas sharing their stories.

Dr. Laurel Thatcher Ulrich, the owner of that quotation, as well as a historian, author, educator, and mother of 5 was dedicated to telling the quiet stories of ordinary people...and she won a Pulitzer Prize for it. Because, as she states, “it is in the very dailiness, the exhaustive, repetitious dailiness, that the real power lies… living has to be measured in doing.” and mommas...we are ALWAYS doing!

It's the really difficult dailiness that holds so much of the beauty of our contributions as mothers, wives, sisters, and daughters...and it rarely gets attention or credit, because as Ulrich stated, well-behaved women seldom make history. So let's change that.

Episode 94: After a Road-trip…Memory Stacking

Welcome back...this is day 467 of our Road Tripping with Family series...

No, in reality, it's day 5, but we have to tell you...this started out as one quick easy podcast and turned into a whole series that keeps growing even as we record them! Heck, Tiff didn't even know she felt so strongly about road trips until we did this!

If you get nothing else out of this series...let it be that trips will impact your family in the most memorable ways...if you let them.

Trips really are worth the challenges...it's a lot like motherhood you see some things, you learn some things, and you are never the same after. But in the best way.

And it often starts with how we allow our trips to settle on our minds and hearts, both in the process of them, but also in reliving them after.

Episode 92: Systems That Will Save Your Road-trip

Your family is still going to be your family no matter where you are.

“A road-trip is a way for the whole family to spend time together and annoy each other in interesting new places.” – Tom Lichtenheld

This is day 3 of our Road-tripping with family series...we’re no strangers to little or big adventures with kiddos and we started sharing some of the lessons we've learned and tucked away from roughly 18+ years of traveling with kids. Today is all about what we do and consider ON the actual trip.

Listen…trips are worth it. That's it. They just are. There are things that happen on trips with your people that you just can't create any other way. We are huge supporters of taking family trips (note: we did NOT call them vacations) and we have GOT the tips and tricks to encourage and prepare you to make really good memories with your people (and not lose your mind along the way).

Episode 91: Being Kind to Tomorrow’s You…Road-trip Edition

As we're getting into the heart of summer we wanted to share some of the lessons we've learned and tucked away from roughly 18+ years of traveling with kids. This is not a to do list, but just some thoughts on our list of considerations when we're planning adventures.

We REALLY believe in the importance and value of taking trips with your people (and even without them) so let this be something that helps you feel better prepared...and not overwhelmed, because once we started writing this stuff down it went from one episode to 3...because we have learned SO much and because gosh darn it, we just love to talk...and short and sweet clearly isn't our jam.
